Hey ya’ll. It’s been a while.

After speaking with the illimitable Dr. Skyskull on the twitter, a number of very silly conversations occurred. Mostly this dealt with Robert Howard’s character Kull the Conqueror, the oldest in-universe incarnation of his Conan character. One thing led to another and silliness happened, as seen below.

Grad school in health informatics is going well, as is the research assistantship. I no longer have time for teaching on top of those two things, but it was very good that I did all three for a semester to test my boundaries.

Grad school has happened

My grad school and two part-time jobs have begun, so I have not yet figured out how to balance those three responsibilities with this one. Content will continue to exist, just at a slower pace.

Making the Things: 4 Ball Market Bag

I just completed the 4 Ball Market Bag, (pattern courtesy of Lion Brand.)

Pattern detail

This bag was made with some cotton yarn I had lying around that was probably anywhere from DK to Worsted weight, somewhere in that region. It does expand surprisingly well and can handle the sharp corners of books. It remains yet untested as to zuchinni or other produce.

Strong Female Sunday 39

Today’s Strong Female is La Muerte of “The Book of Life.”

Mad props to whoever was involved in her design. I was only able to replicate a fraction of the detail here.

Why is she strong?

She is a very powerful spirit whose job it is to watch over the Land of the Remembered. While she does rule part of the dead, she has no problem speaking with people who manage to find their way to her. (And how often do you find afterlife spirits who are so willing to meet with people?) While she does possess a temper, she is willing to listen to reason and change her mind when necessary.
